It’s been a hot minute since our last update. That one’s on me. I’ve been solidly overwhelmed with a lot of personal goings-on, but luckily that has only impacted the frequency of updates. To rip the band-aid off, we don’t have the another preview release here. But that’s because we’re actually substantially further along than another “preview.”
The edits are complete and were far more extensive than I actually expected. This is good since it’s a much more readable and usable text, but it means that the layout work that had been done for prior releases has had to be tossed out wholesale. Our designer has been pushing through and has finished about a third of the book so far, adding new art, proper layout design, and doing all of the other magic that makes pages actually gorgeous.
And since we’re basically accelerating towards an actually final PDF, we’re putting a proper deadline on that: End of July. This is a key deadline for a few reasons: 1. It gets the PDF done before the (rescheduled) big conventions, and 2. it takes advantage of the normal lull period of our designer’s day job .. which is going to kick into overdrive in August and her time will be much more limited.
To that end, we’ve been communicating with people who have asked for refunds and are issuing them accordingly. But we’re also going to set a final cutoff date of June 30 as the last day we will honor any refund requests.
Finally, I am excited to share with you this concept and very rough and unfinished version of how we’re putting together the printable playbooks. Click the image to download the PDF sample.
The Thousand Arrows playbooks are going to be three double-sided pages that are designed to fold into a booklet. One each for the role and allegiance that can be mixed-and-matched and one core generic character sheet that can also be used as a single standalone page. One of the things we love about the PbtA playbooks concept is that you can grab a playbook, make a few choices, and start playing. We’re intending for this format to fulfill that design promise even though the sheer complexity of these booklets is intense.
Please note: This is a prototype, and is still quite far from final. We’d love to hear your feedback on what works for you, what doesn’t, on what information you wish was included.

Quick one this time...
Since last you heard from us, we've made the call to do a serious editing pass and that's been finished. It's great, but it means we have to do-over all the layout that had been done. It'll go quicker than it had before because we've already built all the templates and know what we're after, but it'll still take time.
Given this development, I'm not entirely confident anymore that we'll make our late-April next preview intentions, but a variety of personal matters have been coming to a head over here and they've taken a big priority. That said, if all goes well with those things, we'll be able to really hit the accelerator in a couple of weeks.
